Llandaff Rowing Club is proud to have a successful group of junior rowers in Cardiff. Our strong values and achievements ensure we can continue providing access to the sport of rowing for all.
We pride ourselves on our ever-growing membership. Our juniors begin their rowing careers at the age of 12 (year 7) and graduate at 18 (year 13). We cater for all abilities whether your aspiration is to represent Wales or GB, or to participate in local regattas. We give our juniors every opportunity to succeed with a team of experienced and ambitious coaches. Our Juniors compete in singles, doubles, and quads, and occasionally in an octuple, whilst the older Juniors also race in pairs, coxed fours and eights.
We understand the importance of our juniors’ education so we adopt a program which ensures their rowing compliments their current studies, plus opening doors into the future. Many of our juniors continue rowing as they enter into universities.
Training sessions are a mixture of land and water training. Weekends are usually water based, weather dependent, and weekdays are a mixture of ergos, circuits, running and strength and conditioning. Volume and intensity are dependent upon each squad, for example the J14’s train 3 times a week, and the J18’s train 6 times a week.
